The 3 Main Types of Scaffolding & What They Are Used For

If you are in the construction field or into any type of larger construction project, then you’ll most likely need scaffolding.
You can use scaffolding to support people and hold materials. You can use them during construction or repair of buildings and other structures.
In order to get good quality scaffolds, you need to contact some reputed shuttering and scaffolding rental services who can offer you items at much reasonable rates.
There are different types of scaffolds available in the market today. Of them the three main categories of scaffolding are listed below:
(i)                  Suspended
(ii)                Supported
(iii)               And aerial.
After reading this informative article you’ll have a more in depth understanding of these three types of scaffolding.

Let's discuss further what all these three types of scaffolding involve.
1.      Suspended scaffolding:
In this type, the scaffold is suspended securely by rope from the roof or top of a house or building.
Suspended scaffolding is compiled of levers, pulleys and switches. It allows you to lower yourself from the top of the building back to the bottom and vice versa.

2.      Supported scaffolding:
This type of scaffolding is built from the ground upwards. It has lumber and poles that make a framed scaffold.
It is the only type that allows you to either be grounded on supports or completely mobile in case wheels are attached to the bottom of the support.

3.      Aerial lifts:
Aerial lifts are actually mounted devices that possess the capability to be lifted to other elevations and locations.
This is very helpful to workers when they’ve a need for the scaffolding to be lifted to a completely different location.
Aerial scaffolding requires chains to prevent them from being accidentally disengaged from the hook carrying the lift.

Now you’ve a better understanding of what you need when browsing through different types of scaffolds.

Conclusion:
If you are washing windows on a tall fifty story building, then it’s best to use some sort of suspended scaffolding.
On the other hand, if you’re planning to construct a house then it's best to use the supported ground scaffolding.
And if you need a source for moving the scaffold in the air, then it is recommended that you go for the aerial approach.
